We just noticed this lovely article in the St Marten Marine Trades Association Directory about Captain Oliver, who started the Marina – Hotel – Restaurant at Oyster Pond St Maarten / St Marten. (Yes, this marina is on both countries of this small island!)
Captain left an indelible footprint and is missed by all. Rest In Peace.

Mullet Bay St Maarten – home of a New Super resort?
Sunshine Properties, a Premier Real Estate Office here on St Maarten, noted the goings on at beautiful Mullet Bay. This lagoon and ocean front property has been a source of controversy over the past 15 years. After Hurricane Louis blew through in 1995, it was never restored and has been an eyesore ever since, even though a rather minimal 18 hole golf course was allowed to operate. Mullet Bay is located near Princess Juliana Airport between Maho abnd Cupecoy, where extensive development is in operation despite a sluggish economy. Predictions are that this will be something very special! We are pleased to report that much of the existing materials are being recycled where possible.

An International Photoshoot on St Maarten
I often comment about St Maarten being such an international island. Here are some shots from a recent photoshoot done on Motor Yacht Caribbean Dreamin, Sailing Yacht Piggybank, and support Day Chater boat Garfield 2. It makes me think of a Jimmy Buffet song…models from Brazil, yacht crew from USA, South Africa, Sint Maarten, Sweden. Produced by a German lady living on Barbados…for Hong Kong TV no less! That made for an interesting day!
Howard Eckel – from Trinidad married to a nice Britich lady we all know – was there to snap a few shots. Thanks Howie! By the way, Howard was just selected by The New York Photo Gallery for “The Focus Project” in the top ten finalists for Nature Photographs! See Howards pics
Never a dull moment here in the Caribbean, remember, there are lots of reasons to charter, it makes for great photography! See you on the high seas…
The Hurricane Book by Captain Randy West

D. Randy West - winning a race as captain of S/Y Lone Fox based on St Barth's - the weather was great that day!
One of our favorite all time Captains, D. Randy West, is basking in the admiration of fellow yachtsmen for finally having put some of his life adventures in writing. The fact that his choice of subject is the 18 hurricanes he has been in may not be the best thing… Continue reading
